The Steps Ahead Story
Formerly known as The Aldcroft Taylor School of Dancing – Steps Ahead Dance Academy was Founded in 1997. Steps Ahead provides quality and fun dance classes in a safe and constructive space to everyone who wants to dance Ballroom & Latin. From anybody who has never danced before to experienced dancers, Steps Ahead provides everything you need!
Steps Ahead offer beginner, intermediate and advanced Ballroom & Latin dance classes for children and adults of all ages. Private lessons are also available upon request.
All of our teachers have trained within the school and share the same passion and dance ethos. We pride ourselves in teaching both Ballroom & Latin to the highest levels and always aiming to bring the best out of our students.
Steps Ahead provides a fun and friendly environment for dancers of all abilities and ages. We provide the opportunity for pupils to take Medal Tests, and enter competitions. We also run regular Saturday Social Night Dances.
Our teachers are all qualified with the IDTA (International Dance Teachers Association).

Steps Ahead Social Dances & Balls
Steps Ahead provides both dance classes and social dance events held throughout the year. Held at our largest location at the North Romford Community Centre on a Saturday Night, we hold regular social dances and our annual Summer Ball and Christmas Ball. View our full schedule below. The schools principal. Martin is a qualified teacher, affiliated to the IDTA (International Dance Teachers Association) and has been dancing for over 40 years.
Martin has competed all his life and used to compete with Emma on the national circuit before turning his hand to teaching and sharing his wealth of experience with all his students.

Michelle Dulieu
Michelle is a qualified teacher, affiliated to the IDTA (International Dance Teachers Association) and has been a Dance Teacher since she was 16-years old after competing in local competition circuits.
Emma is a qualified teacher affiliated to the IDTA (International Dance Teachers Association) and UKA (United Kingdom Alliance). Emma has danced for 38 years, and used to compete on the national circuit with Martin.

Michelle is a qualified teacher, affiliated to the IDTA (International Dance Teachers Association) and has been a Dance Teacher since she was 16-years old after competing in local competition circuits.
Ruth Hanson
Ruth is a qualified teacher affiliated with the IDTA (International Dance Teachers Association) and has been dancing since she was just 3-years old. Ruth competed in local competitions before teaching at 16. Ruth also teaches DanceFit classes.
